Walt Disney Co. Sponsors Custom Canopies Shades for Habitat for Humanities
When we heard that Habitat for Humanity was building homes for U.S. veterans and needed a way to provide a cool place for the families and their children to play outside, we knew we wanted to contribute in some way.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization that builds simple, decent, and affordable houses for low-income families. They make home owning possible through non-profit, no-interest mortgage loans. They not only build a community of people by bringing volunteers together but they also curate a community between the families they help.
Among the houses built was a playground where the families and their children can interact with one another and enjoy the outdoors. However, during the summer months when temperatures can soar above 90 degrees, it can be dangerous for young children and even adults to spend extended time outside. In fact, the skin cancer foundation states that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of their lifetime.
Seeing the importance of providing sun protection over the playground that they were donating, Disney asked us to build two hyper shade sails that they would sponsor. Our hyper shade sails would provide the needed sun protection for the kids and parents and added benefits of protection of the playground itself. Additionally, they are also durable, low maintenance, and are built with corrosion resistant powder coated steel frames.
